Introducing Simon Vandereet, senior electrical engineer

Early in 2023, Simon Vandereet started as Senior Electrical Engineer. He will be heavily involved in new developments that go into Elnor's (explosion-proof) electric motors: brushless DC motors as well as different AC motor variants. "In the ATEX brushless DC motor development, I concentrate on the performance and temperature stability of the electronic motor control."

"I like the technical challenges associated with electric motors. It is great working alongside Elnor motor specialists in search of improvements that increase motor performance, robustness and efficiency. At this point I am diving into motor theory literature and engineering calculation tools to get myself up to speed. I also regularly work in the motor testing and engineering lab and in production to gain experience."

In July, new European energy efficiency regulations will take effect. Elnor is in full swing to engineer various motor adaptations in maintaining compliance with the new regulations. "I like to be involved in the technical aspects that are relevant for these and other motor development efforts. I am looking forward to see my motor changes ripple through to motor design, manufacturing and distribution internationally."

Before joining Elnor, Simon worked for Dematic. At this company, Simon was largely involved in development work related to PLC controls and robotics. Concretely, he developed electrical control hardware for automated storage retrieval systems in large warehouses.

Focus on custom electric motors

Custom Elnor motors simplify the configuration, improve performance and save time and money – avoiding intricate and costly control and driveline manipulation.

The choice of top manufacturers

Buying off-the-shelf is no longer the golden standard. A growing number of manufacturers value the benefits of integrating custom motors into their machines and equipment.

Move fast and scale internationally

Custom motor design following the selected explosion protection standards, allows manufacturers to rapidly and confidently commercialize products internationally.
